Bishop Theodore and Mother Rose Hester were sent to Boston from Harlem, NYC, by the late Bishop R.C. Lawson, founder of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ (COOLJC) organization. From 1953 until their heavenly transitions, Bishop and Mother Hester faithfully served the Refuge Church of Christ family and community. After Bishop Hester's transition, Mother Rose Hester continued her journey, lovingly modeling what it means to be a child of God. We are certain that the last time you saw Mother Rose Hester, you received two kisses!
We pray that their legacy will continue through their children and grandchildren, inspiring them to follow the paths they blazed as they labored for Christ. We will continue to add to this biography and share images of these faithful soldiers. GOD MUST BLESS HIS WORD!
Armed with the mission to "Add Thou to It," Bishop Hester mentored young ministers, guiding them into pastoral roles, which ultimately led to the creation of the Lawsonian Diocese. The diocese consisted of five churches, and he faithfully served as their Diocesan Bishop. As a testament to his labor of love in the gospel, our parent organization, COOLJC, honored him with the title of Honorary Apostle. The five churches that emerged under his leadership are:
